Last week, the Biden administration hinted towards signing a United Nations “small arms” treaty that would open the door for Americans to be added to a global gun registration list.

In 2019, President Trump withdrew America’s support for the UN treaty, saying, “My administration will never ratify the UN arms trade treaty. We’re taking our signature back. The United Nations will soon receive a formal notice that America is rejecting this treaty.”

A National Rifle Association (NRA) article discussing the treaty says the globalist pact calls for “a ban on civilian possession of ‘military’ style arms – no automatic weapons or magazines with over a 10 round capacity, ballistic recordings, different risk classifications on types of firearms (i.e. calibers over .45 are an intolerable risk to public safety and semi-auto handguns and rifles are high risk), licensing and registration of all firearms, training and storage restrictions, waiting periods, 20-year record retention requirements of sellers, age limits and requiring a demonstrated need to possess a firearm, with self-defense not being one of them.”

Now, the Washington Examiner is reporting that State Department Deputy Director for Conventional Arms Threat Reduction William Malzahn has signaled the Biden administration’s intent to join the treaty.

Speaking at a conference held by the countries who have already signed on to the treaty, Malzahn said, “I have come from Washington, D.C., this week to take the floor on the agenda item Treaty Universalization to underscore the continuing commitment of the United States to responsible international trade in conventional arms.”

Malzahn told the 7th Conference of States Parties to the Arms Trade Treaty, “The United States has long supported strong and effective national controls on the international transfer of conventional arms, and the Arms Trade Treaty is an important tool [for] promoting those controls internationally.”

Not only is the Biden State Department preparing to sign the treaty, but Malzahn said that the administration is actually going to strengthen the “Conventional Arms Transfer Policy.”

“The revised CAT Policy should be finalized shortly and released as a public document. When it is, the United States will then use that policy framework to review specific arms transfer issues, including determining the proper relationship of the United States to the Arms Trade Treaty,” he told the conference attendees.

The NRA Twitter account wrote last week, “This is the first step towards creating a global firearms registry. President Biden wants to give foreign bureaucrats control over the rights of law-abiding Americans, and the NRA will fight it every step of the way. Stay tuned.”
