Law enforcement officials and immigration watchdogs are warning that the Biden administration has neutralized Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) through a series of executive orders and policy changes.
Reports indicate the agency is quickly becoming a shell of its former self under President Biden, with agents unable to perform tasks associated with removing even dangerous criminal aliens from the country.
“Americans should be outraged,” Frederick County (MD) Sheriff Chuck Jenkins told Fox & Friends on Monday. “What he’s done is effectively and functionally dismantled ICE, basically telling agents to stand down. There will be no enforcement.”
“These types of laws lead to more victims of crime, more violent crime, gangs infiltrating this country… Americans won’t be safer.”
Jenkins’ warnings match those of an official who recently voiced their concern to the Washington Post.
“They’ve abolished ICE without abolishing ICE,” said the official, who was reportedly not authorized to speak to media. “The pendulum swing is so extreme. It literally feels like we’ve gone from the ability to fully enforce our immigration laws to now being told to enforce nothing.”
Assessing a recent executive order banning ICE from carrying out deportations for 100 days, Jessica Vaughn of the Center for Immigration Studies asserted the agency had been “abolished by memo.”
More on how the Biden deportation freeze order caused confusion among ICE field personnel. Another ICE officer told me that all actions were halted because they had no guidance on how to interpret the order. Apparently now HQ has to approve every case. ICE abolished by memo. https://t.co/RbKqWOWhTf

The Department of Homeland Security is expected to soon issue new guidelines which will further reduce deportations of illegal aliens with criminal convictions.
“Generally, these convictions would not include drug based crimes (less serious offenses), simple assault, DUI, money laundering, property crimes, fraud, tax crimes, solicitation, or charges without convictions,” acting ICE director Tae Johnson explained in an email to senior officials obtained by the Post.
A migrant surge has already kicked off at the southern border.
Former Customs and Border Protection chief Mark Morgan recently warned that over 3,000 illegal aliens are now being captured by border agents on a daily basis.
“I was talking to a Border Patrol leader, a guy that has been doing this for several decades, you know, kind of a tough guy. And he looked at me and said, ‘Commissioner, I got to tell you. I’m scared at what’s coming,’” Morgan said in an interview last week.
