During a CNN interview, Joe Biden ‘joked’ that, “I’ll develop some disease and say I have to resign” if he disagrees with Kamala Harris.

Biden made the comment during a discussion with host Jake Tapper, who asked Biden how he would work with Harris.

“And like I told Barack, if I read something where there’s a fundamental disagreement we have based on a moral principle, I’ll develop some disease and say I have to resign,” Biden told Tapper.

While the comment was presumably said in jest, it will revive suspicions about who really holds the power in the administration if Biden is inaugurated.

Back in August immediately after Biden announced Harris as his running mate, CNN published an article asserting that Harris would be able to take on the presidency if and when Biden decides to “step aside.”

“Joe Biden made the pick that maximized his chances of continuing to make the race a straight referendum on Trump while also selecting someone whose resume suggests being ready to step in, if and when Biden decides to step aside,” stated a tweet by CNN which linked to an article by CNN editor-at-large Chris Cilizza.

The article noted that Harris “will be ready to step in if and when Biden decides to step aside.”

Both Biden and Harris have also previously referred to themselves as the “Harris-Biden administration.”

“A Harris-Biden administration is going to relaunch that effort and keep pushing it further to make it easier for military spouses and veterans to find meaningful careers, to ensure teachers know how to support military children in their classrooms,” Biden said during a veterans roundtable in Tampa, Florida.

Kamala Harris also used the term “Harris administration” during a roundtable, prompting President Trump to accuse Biden of thinking that Harris is actually president.
