The thought of Donald Trump winning a second term is nauseating, says two-time presidential loser Hillary Clinton.
In a recent New York Times podcast, the failed 2016 Democrat presidential candidate admitted envisioning a Trump 2020 victory turns her stomach.
“It makes me literally sick to my stomach to think that we’d have four more years of this abuse and destruction of our institutions,” Clinton told the NYT podcast Sway, in a broadcast set to premiere Monday. “And damaging of our norms and our values. And lessening of our leadership. And the list goes on.”
The embittered Clinton prefaced her remarks by saying she “can’t entertain the idea of [Trump] winning.”
“It would cause cognitive dissonance of a grave degree,” Clinton told the podcast, claiming many Republicans feel the same way.
“Most Republicans are going to want to close the page. They have been cowards, spineless enablers of him. They want to see him gone as much as we do, but they can’t say it publicly,” claimed the former Secretary of State.
Asked whether she would support the phrase “lock him up” in reference to Trump, as is commonly chanted at his rallies in reference to Clinton, Biden and other Democrat swamp creatures, she said, “No.”
“No, I would never say that,” Clinton claimed, adding, “I believe in the rule of law, unlike some of these people.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Clinton claimed she occupies space in Trump’s head – not the other way around.
Well, I think I live rent-free in his head. He does not live rent-free in my head, because I have very little regard for him. And I believe that he has been a disastrous president and has caused a lot of harm to what I care about in our country and around the world. So I don’t really think about him much, other than to do what I can to defeat him, because that, I think, is an existential crisis that we face. He’s a very hollow man. He has very little of interest to me. So I’m not thinking about him other than to try to retire him as quickly as we can.
Meanwhile, Trump only mentions Hillary as an afterthought on the campaign trail, most recently discussing her before a crowd in Londonderry, New Hampshire, where she credited her with having more energy and intelligence than “Sleepy” Joe Biden.
“He’ll go back to bed. Hillary used to spend a lot of time in bed too. But she had more energy than him. She did,” the president told a packed-out rally crowd.
