Police in North Carolina have arrested an illegal alien in a hit-and-run that killed a toddler this month, according to reports.
Aaron Santiso, 30, was charged with Felony Hit and Run with Injury or Death, one count of Felony Death by Vehicle, and one count of Driving While Impaired following the death of three-year-old Andi Lynn Blair.
The child was reportedly riding a tricycle on a cul-de-sac near her home in Flat Rock at around 6 p.m. on August 21 when she was fatally struck by a driver who fled the scene.
Santiso was pulled over by a Henderson County Sheriff’s deputy near the South Carolina state line shortly after details of the incident were relayed to authorities.
“First responders arrived on the scene within five minutes of the initial call but found the 3-year-old female child deceased,” the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office explained in a statement. “The North Carolina Highway Patrol and the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office began working together at the scene of the hit-and-run and utilizing all available resources to attempt to locate the hit-and-run driver.”
“Shortly after receiving the hit and run information, a Henderson County officer stopped a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle just north of the South Carolina state line on US 25S.”
Santiso is being held under a $1,001,000 bond, authorities say.
