An armed suspect died following an altercation with victims who fought back during an attempted robbery in New York City over the weekend, according to reports.

The harrowing incident unfolded at around 2 a.m. on Sunday in Eltingville, a neighborhood in the borough of Staten Island.

A man brandishing a gun confronted two 29-year-old males on the street and demanding they hand over their valuables.

“Give me everything you’ve got,” the suspect ordered the men, a police source told the New York Post.

The victims fought back, engaging the suspect in a “physical altercation,” according to authorities.

They managed to disarm the suspect, with one man continuing to “hold” the mugger while they waited for police to arrive

The 33-year-old suspect reportedly lost consciousness during the scrap and was taken to Staten Island University Hospital North, where he was pronounced deceased.

“The deceased man has several prior arrests — including busts for assaulting a police officer, robbery, grand larceny, aggravated unlicensed operator and criminal possession of a controlled substance,” the Post reports.

Authorities later determined the weapon he had been carrying was a BB gun.
