"This is what they do in communist countries," says Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.

Congressional Republicans blasted the Democrats’ plans to arrest former President Donald Trump next week over a case related to porn star Stormy Daniels, calling the effort a political witch hunt and pledging to launch investigations into the matter.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy began by calling for a congressional probe into whether federal funds are being used to “subvert democracy” with “politically motivated prosecutions” given that Trump is the leading Republican presidential candidate for 2024.

“Here we go again — an outrageous abuse of power by a radical DA who lets violent criminals walk as he pursues political vengeance against President Trump,” McCarthy tweeted Saturday. “I’m directing relevant committees to immediately investigate if federal funds are being used to subvert our democracy by interfering in elections with politically motivated prosecutions.”

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) accused the Biden Department of Justice of coordinating with the Manhattan DA to arrest his political opponent ahead of 2024.

“Biden’s DOJ is coordinating with the Democrat Manhattan DA to arrest Donald Trump, the top Republican Presidential candidate for 2024, and charge him with a fake outdated misdemeanor charge,” she tweeted. “It’s ALL FOR POLITICS! This is what they do in communists countries to destroy their political opponents!”

House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) echoed Greene’s remarks, saying Trump’s expected arrest is something out of “third world countries.”

“This is unAmerican and the radical Left has reached a dangerous new low of Third World countries,” Stefanik said in a statement. “Knowing they cannot beat President Trump at the ballot box, the Radical Left will now follow the lead of Socialist dictators and reportedly arrest President Trump, the leading Republican candidate for President of the United States.”

Even former Vice President Mike Pence, no longer a political ally of Trump’s, even said Saturday that the looming indictment “reeks of the kind of political prosecution that we endured back in the days of the Russia Hoax.”

“Like many Americans, I’m just, I’m taken aback. You have a major crime wave in New York, especially in New York City. You have literally a Democratic Party that’s literally dismantled the criminal justice system in that city, undercut the NYPD, and this is what the Manhattan DA says is their top priority,” Pence told Breibart News.

“It reeks of the kind of political prosecution that that we endured back in the days of the Russia hoax and the whole impeachment over a phone call. And one thing I know is —  I know that former President Trump can take care of himself,” he added.

Trump called on his supporters to “protest” the announcement of his upcoming arrest, saying the case led by the Soros-backed DA is “based on an old and fully debunked (by numerous other prosecutors) fairytale.”
