A spokesperson for Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi responded to accusations that she pushed the daughter of incoming Rep. Mayra Flores (R-Texas) during a photo op last week.

In footage of the incident going viral on social media, Pelosi is seen nudging Flores’ daughter to move away from her as the new congresswoman’s family stood ready for photos during her congressional swearing-in ceremony last Tuesday.

The video has received over 3.7 million views on Twitter as of writing, and was promoted by conservatives with major audiences such as actor James Woods, who commented, “I love this princess stood her ground, while Nancy showed her true colors.”

Rep. Flores, who won a historically blue and primarily hispanic Texas House district earlier this month, bashed Pelosi for the disgraceful action caught on film and praised her daughter for taking the nudge in stride.

“I am so proud of my strong, beautiful daughter for not allowing this to faze her. She continued to smile and pose for the picture like a Queen.”

“No child should be pushed to the side for a photo op. PERIOD!!” she added.

Meanwhile, Pelosi’s Chief of Staff Drew Hammill defended the Speaker’s actions Monday, accusing media outlets of “misrepresenting” the footage, and instead claiming she was trying to help the girl get in the photo.

“It’s sad to see ‘news outlets’ that know better misrepresent the Speaker’s effort to ensure Rep. Flores’ daughters wouldn’t be hidden behind her in all of the photos of such an important moment for their family,” Hammill tweeted Monday, along with video of the incident.

As noted by RedState, Hammill doesn’t deny Pelosi pushed Flores’ daughter, but instead tries to gaslight the public into believing she did it for her own good.

“The response from her spokesperson and deputy chief of staff, Drew Hamill was just so lame and unbelievable, it’s almost like he didn’t even bother to look at the video or he completely disregarded what Flores said. I thought Pelosi might deny it, but Hammill essentially admitted that Pelosi had pushed the child; he gave the explanation that she was trying to push her to make sure that the child got into the picture,” writes Nick Arama.

“So, I have a few issues with this explanation. First, by shoving her to the side, she’s pushing her further out of the picture. If you wanted to make sure she got in the picture, you might say, ‘Honey, move in the front so you can get in the picture.’ Not shove her. Yet, the girl wasn’t behind her, so the explanation doesn’t make a lot of sense.”

“Second, why is she touching the child at all, much less with a rude elbow shove? She seems to think she’s just entitled to touch the child much less give her a shove. Since when?” Arama added.

The shove was also not received well on social media.

Indeed, Flores is already ruffling the feathers of the Democrat establishment and her term will evidently be a very interesting one.
