House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) claimed that Communist China is “one of the freest societies” on Earth.
You can’t make this up.
Pelosi insisted Tuesday on NBC’s “Today” show that her recent visit to Taiwan wasn’t meant to be “disruptive,” but rather to affirm the “One China policy” because it’s a “strong democracy.”
“It was only about saying China is one of the freest societies in the world,” Pelosi argued. “Don’t take it from me, that’s from Freedom House. It’s a strong democracy, courageous people.”

Contrary to Pelosi’s remarks, Freedom House, a nonprofit U.S. government-funded organization, said China is an “authoritarian regime” that’s “become increasingly repressive in recent years.”
“The ruling Chinese Communist Party (CCP) continues to tighten control over all aspects of life and governance, including the state bureaucracy, the media, online speech, religious practice, universities, businesses, and civil society associations, and it has undermined an earlier series of modest rule-of-law reforms. The CCP leader and state president, Xi Jinping, has consolidated personal power to a degree not seen in China for decades.”
Pelosi is either completely clueless or she’s a liar — either way, her bizarre remarks don’t look good.
Currently, the Chinese Communist Party is imposing the most stringent COVID lockdowns on Earth as part of its “dynamic zero-COVID” policy.
