A pregnant woman lost her child in the days following a vicious ‘road rage’ attack by a man wielding a tool in New York City last month, according to reports.
The horrifying incident unfolded on a busy street in the Bronx at around 5:20 p.m. on June 6, but authorities just released surveillance footage in hopes of tracking down the suspect.
The 26-year-old female victim was driving to a therapy appointment when the suspect tried to force his way into her lane and she didn’t allow it, she says.
The suspect then followed her and became increasingly aggressive.
“She says she didn’t know what the problem was and she got out of her car. That’s when the victim says the man began attacking her with a screwdriver, jabbing her five times in the head and then going for the neck,” ABC 7 reports.
“The woman says while at the hospital, that’s when she learned she was three months pregnant. About a week after the attack she miscarried.”
Initial reports indicated the suspect hit the woman multiple times with a wrench.
The suspect can be seen pushing his victim up against a car and striking her viciously with a weapon.
Good Samaritans eventually intervene and the suspect flees in a white BMW sedan.
It is unclear whether the attack directly impacted the woman’s pregnancy.
An investigation is ongoing and anyone with pertinent information is asked to contact NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
As we celebrate our independence this year we must remember that the 1973 film Soylent Green took place in 2022.
