Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) went knives out against President Donald Trump over the weekend, bashing his administration’s quick Covid-19 vaccine turnaround time as a measure that circumvented informed consent.
DeSantis’ sharp-tongued comments came Saturday during remarks at the Florida Family Policy Council, where he slammed the experimental Covid vaccines as tools of tyranny.
“The way they weaponized these COVID vaxes was a massive incursion into our freedoms,” the governor said. “They wanted to deny people the right to put food on their table if they didn’t bend the knee and get a COVID shot that they may not have wanted and that many of them did not need.”
DeSantis, who’s expected to announce a bid for the Republican presidential nomination this week, also fired off a potshot at former president and leading prospective GOP nominee Trump by snidely disparaging his administration’s efforts to accelerate the vaccine process, a major subject of contention in MAGA circles.
“We can never allow ‘Warp Speed’ to trump informed consent in this country ever again,” DeSantis said, referencing Trump’s “Operation Warp Speed.”
DeSantis was immediately put in check by people pointing out he at one point supported the speedy jab initiative.

Moreover, many pointed out DeSantis’ attempt to link the fast jab development to vaccine mandates was a disingenuous argument at best.

While Trump has noted he’s never supported mandatory vaccinations, his failure to issue a statement recognizing the prevalence of vaccine injuries is a significant oversight for the former president especially among his core base, which remains doubtful of the overall safety of the jabs.
