Texas police busted a shocking human smuggling attempt involving dozens of illegal aliens packed into the cab of semi-truck this week, according to reports.

A whopping 28 passengers and a driver were found inside the vehicle after it was stopped on a highway near Laredo.

“Crazy human smuggling bust out of Laredo yesterday. [Texas Department of Public Safety] pulled over a truck that had 27 illegal immigrants crammed into the cab being smuggled. The driver, a U.S. citizen, was arrested & charged,” Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin reported on Wednesday.

While Melugin originally reported that 27 illegals were apprehended at the scene, he later revised that number up to 28 during an appearance on Tucker Carlson Tonight.

The migrants said they paid as much as $16,000 per person to be smuggled into the U.S., Texas police told Melugin.

The truck was reportedly bound for San Antonio, where the migrants planned to travel onward to at least 10 different states.

The driver, a U.S. citizen from Houston, was charged with 28 counts of felony human smuggling.

He told authorities he was recruited to transport illegals on WhatsApp.

It’s official: America is now in a civil war.
