Border Patrol agents arrested six illegal aliens in an El Paso neighborhood following a vehicle pursuit last week, according to reports.
The incident unfolded at around 10:30 a.m. on Saturday morning when authorities observed several suspicious persons climb into an SUV after walking out of the desert in an area well-known for human smuggling and cartel traffic.
Agents from the Santa Teresa Border Patrol Station’s Anti-Smuggling Unit began to follow the SUV and called for backup.
During the chase, the vehicle came to a stop and the occupants took flight into a neighborhood near the El Paso Country Club.
“After a short search, agents were able to apprehend a total of six migrants, including the driver and an unaccompanied child. After further investigation, Border Patrol discovered that all of the people detained were in the county illegally and did not have proper immigration documentation,” KTSM reports.
Authorities determined four of the suspects were Mexican nationals while the other two were from Bolivia.
“The vehicle was seized, the driver charged with Conspiracy to transport, and is being held at the Otero County Detention Facility,” according to KTSM.
The minor was taken to El Paso Sector Centralized Processing Center while the rest of the aliens were reportedly expelled in accordance with Title 42 public health emergency guidelines.
