A man accused of running an al-Qaeda terror cell in Iraq was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in Arizona.

The suspect is currently a resident of the Phoenix area, but is being sought by the Republic of Iraq to face “two charges of premeditated murder committed in 2006 in Al-Fallujah” against Iraqi police officers, ICE explained in a press release.

“An Iraqi judge issued a warrant for the arrest of Ali Yousif Ahmed Al-Nouri, 42, on murder charges. The Government of Iraq subsequently requested Ahmed’s extradition from the United States,” the agency reports.

“In accordance with its treaty obligations to Iraq, the United States filed a complaint in Phoenix seeking a warrant for Ahmed’s arrest based on the extradition request. U.S. Magistrate Judge John Z. Boyle issued the warrant January 29, 2020, and Ahmed was arrested the following day.”

The government of Iraq alleges Ahmed helmed a faction of al-Qaeda jihadists who carried out the murders of two Iraqi officers in 2006.

“The details contained in the complaint are allegations and have not yet been proven in court,” ICE makes clear. “If Ahmed’s extradition is certified by the court, the decision of whether to surrender him to Iraq will be made by the U.S. Secretary of State.”

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona and the Criminal Division’s Office of International Affairs would reportedly handle Ahmed’s extradition.

The acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has penned an op-ed staunchly defending the agency’s mission and ripping into leftist protesters pushing for lawlessness and open borders.

Matthew Albence says he is “appalled and perplexed” by propaganda designed to cripple and demoralize law enforcement efforts, both across the United States and in Portland, Maine, where recent demonstrations against ICE took place.

“These ignorant, inflammatory efforts to block enforcement of this nation’s criminal statutes by hardworking, patriotic Americans who live in the same communities they serve, stand only to put these communities – and the entire city of Portland – at risk,” Albence writes. “These protesters are advocating for dangerous criminals to roam our streets with impunity.”

“In addition to the Jan. 3 protests in downtown Portland, a mock fence cage was displayed with a sign urging ‘No kids in cages.’ This is a gross mischaracterization of our agency’s standards of care at well-run detention facilities nationwide, especially family facilities.”

Albence points out many ICE agents are military veterans who work closely with police to target criminals who commit heinous crimes, including child traffickers operating in Maine and the surrounding region.

“This inaccurate, baseless rhetoric further ignores the agency’s efforts in New England, including the rescue of 70 child exploitation victims, since 2017,” Albence asserts.

“These are the real kids in cages, victimized by heartless criminals who force them into prostitution and servitude, tragically leaving them with permanent mental and physical scars. And these kids are in addition to the 25 trafficking victims Homeland Security Investigations Portland rescued, conducting these investigations from office settings just like the one targeted in the misguided protests.”

Albence touted ICE’s record number of arrests in 2019, revealing the agency removed over 150,000 criminal aliens from the U.S., including 8,000 gang members.

An illegal alien is suspected in a brutal murder and sexual assault of a 92-year-old woman in New York City, prompting federal officials to place blame on Mayor Bill de Blasio and his city’s protection of criminals.

Reeaz Khan, a 21-year-old illegal alien from Guyana, was roaming free despite facing charges stemming from an attack on his own father in late November.

Khan, who allegedly used a broken mug to slice his father during a dispute at their home, was charged with misdemeanor assault, harassment, and criminal possession of a weapon, but “released without bail after being slapped with a temporary order of protection for his dad,” according to the New York Post.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) issued a detainer for Khan, which NYPD allegedly ignored due to the city’s ‘sanctuary’ policies.

Maria Fuertes, 92, was out for a customary evening walk near her home in Queens when she encountered Khan, who is suspected of strangling and sexually assaulting her.

Fuertes was discovered hours later, lying in the street with her clothes pulled above her waist.

Her injuries included a broken spine, rib fractures, internal hemorrhaging, and tears in her vagina, the New York Daily News reports.

Khan initially told investigators he had found Fuertes lying on the ground, but when he tried to help her, he “fell down, his belt broke, his pants fell down and his penis fell near her vagina.”

He later reportedly admitted to killing Fuertes and that he “did lift up her skirt and tried to put his penis inside of her,” according to Assistant District Attorney Joseph Grasso.

Khan has been charged with second-degree murder and first-degree sexual abuse.

“It was a deadly choice to release a man on an active ICE detainer back onto the streets after his first arrest included assault and weapon charges, and he now faces new charges, including murder,” Thomas Decker, a New York field-office director of enforcement and removal operations for ICE, told the Post.

“New York City’s sanctuary policies continue to threaten the safety of all residents of the five boroughs as they repeatedly protect criminal aliens who show little regard for the laws of this nation.”

NYPD claims it never received the detainer for Khan, but ICE says it has a receipt confirming transmission of the request via fax.

“Maria Fuertes’ blood is on Mayor de Blasio’s hands,” a retired Brooklyn detective told the Post. “It was only a matter of time before this would happen.”

A Chinese woman who pleaded guilty to federal criminal charges stemming from her operation of a ‘birth tourism’ business in California awaits imminent sentencing in the first case of its kind, according to reports.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) told CNN the indictments are the “first-ever” brought by the U.S. government against a birth tourism enterprise and its customers.

“The operation Dongyuan Li ran, You Win USA Vacation Services Corp., coached families on what to say in their visa interviews, created ways for them to bypass immigration controls and housed them in upscale apartments in California for up to three months,” CNN reports. “In two years, she had received $3 million in international wire transfers from China, the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement said.”

Li ultimately pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit immigration fraud and one count of visa fraud, ICE announced earlier this year.

“Li was one of 19 defendants named in a series of indictments unsealed earlier this year which resulted from an massive probe by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Los Angeles and IRS Criminal Investigation,” ICE said in a press release in September.

“Li is the first of the charged operators of birth tourism businesses to plead guilty. The remaining defendants either are pending trial or are fugitives.”

You Win USA reportedly assisted over 500 Chinese clients looking to secure birthright citizenship for their children, charging between $40,000 and $80,000 per customer.

“This was extremely bold,” Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent Daniel Showalter told CNN. “She said it was easy to fool us. She had nothing but disdain for the US.”

“We do need to send the message that defrauding our immigration system for profit will not be tolerated and if you do so, you do so at your own peril,” he warned. “We will prosecute you and seize your proceeds, bank accounts, vehicles, houses.”

More than 3,500 child predators were apprehended by U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during Fiscal Year 2019, marking an 18 percent increase from 2018, the agency announced.

Operation Predator, an international program launched by ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) division, has successfully escalated its war on sex offenders who target minors and children.

“Special agents, investigators and analysts from across HSI have dedicated themselves to protecting children and rooting out predators for more than two decades,” ICE explained in a press release.

“In FY 19, HSI initiated 4,224 child exploitation cases resulting in 3,771 criminal arrests, and identified or rescued 1,066 victims – an increase of nearly 18% over FY 18 and reflecting HSI’s firm commitment to ending these heinous crimes against children, wherever they occur.”

HSI’s stated objectives are to “identify, investigate, and arrest child predators who possess, trade, or produce child sexual abuse material; travel overseas for sex with minors; or engage in the sex trafficking of children.”

ICE describes Operation Predator as HSI’s “flagship initiative” for identifying and apprehending child sex offenders.

“HSI is committed to eradicating individuals from our communities who seek to prey on children,” said Eben Roberts, acting special agent in charge of HSI Seattle.

“HSI’s agents, in cooperation with our law enforcement partners, work tirelessly to find and bring to justice, individuals who commit these heinous crimes. Moreover, we are dedicated to rescuing from harm’s way our most precious population – our children – and those who seek to harm them should consider this a warning.”

The Harvard Crimson newspaper has been formally condemned by the university’s student government, which voted to pass a statement denouncing the publication for reaching out to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to obtain an official statement for an article.

The Harvard Undergraduate Council voted 15-13-4 to approve a statement issued in support of Act on a Dream, an open borders activist group which recently held an “Abolish ICE” demonstration on campus.

The Crimson, which reported on the protest, reached out to ICE for comment to include in its coverage — an act of professional journalism which was denounced by Act on a Dream and other activist groups.

“The Undergraduate Council stands in solidarity with the concerns of Act on a Dream, undocumented students, and other marginalized individuals on campus,” the recently-passed statement reads.

“It is necessary for the Undergraduate Council to acknowledge the concerns raised by numerous groups and students on campus over the past few weeks and to recognize the validity of their expressed fear and feelings of unsafety.”

The Harvard Graduate Students Union released a similar statement in support of Act on a Dream.

A petition issued by Act on a Dream and endorsed by other campus groups, such as Harvard College Democrats for Warren, Harvard Radcliffe RAZA, and Harvard Black Men’s Forum demands the Crimson:

1. Apologize for the harm they inflicted on the undocumented community.
2. Critically engage with and change their policies that require calling ICE for comment.
3. Declare their commitment to protecting undocumented students on campus.

Harvard Crimson President Kristine E. Guillaume issued a statement of her own, defending her publication’s pursuit of the “highest standards” of journalistic integrity.

“Fundamental journalistic values obligate The Crimson to allow all subjects of a story a chance to comment,” Guillaume said. “This policy demonstrates a commitment to ensuring that the individuals and institutions we write about have an opportunity to respond to criticisms in order to ensure a fair and unbiased story.”

“We welcome feedback from our readers and from those we cover. In this case, we met with representatives of Act on a Dream to hear their concerns and explain our approach.”

An illegal alien convicted of “felony death by motor vehicle” was released in a North Carolina sanctuary county, despite a detainer issued by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), prompting the agency to publish a scathing statement.

Jose Barajas-Diaz, a Mexican national, was arrested on Jan. 29, 2019, by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and charged with driving while impaired and felony death by motor vehicle.

“Mr. Barajas-Diaz was convicted of felony death by motor vehicle in North Carolina Superior Court for Mecklenburg County on October 24, 2019, and given a five-year suspended sentence with credit for time served,” ICE explained in a press release. “The Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office then refused to honor the ICE detainer and instead released him back into the community.”

“By releasing an illegal alien with a serious felony criminal offense resulting in death, Mecklenburg County chose to release a serious public safety threat into the Charlotte community where he was free to potentially harm others until his capture by ICE.”

ICE agents apprehended Barajas-Diaz one week later during a targeted enforcement action.

Acting ICE Director Matt Albence also issued a strong rebuke of sanctuary policies, saying, “This is yet another example of a clear public safety threat being released into North Carolina communities rather than into ICE custody due to local sheriff policies on ICE non-cooperation.”

“Continued decisions to refuse cooperation with ICE serve as an open invitation to aliens who commit criminal offenses that these counties are a safe haven for persons seeking to evade federal authorities, and residents of Mecklenburg County are less safe due to these misguided sanctuary policies.”

ICE says over 500 detainers for criminal foreign nationals were ignored by local authorities across North Carolina during FY 2019.

Owners of a food truck have issued multiple apologies following backlash from open borders activists after they served lunch to employees at a federal detention facility in New York.

Lloyd’s Taco Trucks issued an initial apology after being attacked for sending a truck to the Buffalo Federal Detention Facility for the Department of Homeland Security in Batavia, NY.

The company quickly announced it would donate all proceeds from the lunch service to ‘Justice For Migrant Families WNY.’

“Yesterday, we made an honest mistake by serving lunch at the federal detention facility in Batavia. We’re sorry,” Lloyd’s said in a statement.

“We know that words cannot change the past and a donation does not make up for our lapse in judgment. Only time and future actions can show our commitment to being a more thoughtful company.”

Justice For Migrant Families issued an immediate response to Lloyd’s, saying the donation would be used to provide phones and additional food to migrants at the facility.

“While Lloyd’s prides itself on its support of immigrants, this event shows it can still do better,” said Executive Director Jennifer Connor. “It’s not the first time that Lloyd’s has reconsidered business decisions it made, such as partnering with Uber right after they continued service to JFK during the first Muslim ban.”

“Making amends is a good start but for any business that relies on immigrant food and labor, it is important to stand with all immigrants through how values are practiced. In that vein we also invite Lloyd’s management to join us for our next training on immigrant detention.”

However, Lloyd’s came under additional fire for caving so easily.

ICE issued a statement of their own on the matter, revealing that most of the migrants detained at the facility are actually criminal aliens who have committed additional offenses while already in the United States illegally.

“The men and women who work at the Buffalo Federal Detention Facility are Detention Officers, Deportation Officers, administrative support staff, Doctors, Nurses, Judges, Attorneys, and maintenance staff,” said ICE Field Office Director Thomas Feeley.

“Each and every one of them is entrusted with the safety, security, and care of the detainees here. Almost 50% of the staff are Veterans. Families are not detained here nor has any child been here.”

“Further, an overwhelming percentage of the detainees detained at this facility are criminal aliens, meaning, they continued to commit more crimes after illegally entering the United States,” he continued. “We are doing our jobs, enforcing the laws passed by Congress. Just like we have for many Presidents. We will not apologize for doing this, not even to a food truck that now chooses to discriminate against us.”

Lloyd’s has since issued a follow-up apology, saying they responded to criticism too quickly.

“Chris and I want to fully and sincerely apologize for our past statement after our truck’s visit to the federal detention facility in Batavia last week,” said company co-founder Pete Cimino at a press conference. “Our statement was hastily made, and we reacted too quickly to criticism we received for that visit.”

“We make tacos, not war.”

Justice For Migrant Families now claims they are not sure if they will receive the donation from Lloyd’s and have not heard from the company since the initial statement.

A Virginia police officer has been suspended and blasted by his chief for detaining a suspected illegal alien with an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) warrant who was involved in a traffic accident.

According to a description of events about the incident, which occurred on September 21, an unidentified Fairfax County Police Department officer discovered that a driver involved in a multi-vehicle collision did not possess a Virginia Operator’s license, and upon further investigation, learned the driver was wanted by ICE for failure to appear at a deportation hearing.

An ICE agent responsible for the case immediately dispatched to the scene, and the officer held the suspect until custody could be transferred to the ICE agent.

The officer has since been placed on administrative leave and is under investigation for allegedly violating department policy to not detain offenders solely due to their immigration status.

Police Chief Edwin Roessler Jr. issued an official statement about the matter, slamming his own officer and touting the ‘diversity’ of Fairfax County.

“As a matter of full transparency to our community – our police officer violated our longstanding policy and deprived a person of their freedom, which is unacceptable,” Roessler wrote. “We have been informed by ICE that the driver was released after three hours and issued an ankle monitor. When I learned of this event, I directed an immediate internal investigation to look at all factors in this matter to ensure that all are held accountable for this violation.”

“Our county is one of the most diverse counties in the nation and no one should have the perception that FCPD is acting as a civil immigration agent for ICE. This matter damages our reputation and the longstanding policy that I have stated many times that our officers shall not act as immigration agents. The officer involved in this event has been relieved of all law enforcement duties pending the outcome of this investigation. It is my duty to enforce our FCPD – and Fairfax County – policies and hold all accountable for their actions.”

Roessler offered additional comments regarding disciplinary measures being taken against the officer to the Washington Post.

“This is an unfortunate issue where the officer was confused,” Roessler said. “We have trained on this issue a lot. This is the first time we’ve had a lapse in judgment, and the officer is being punished.”

An apprehension by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents was derailed by residents of a Nashville, Tennessee, neighborhood who formed a human chain around a suspected illegal alien and his son in their driveway after a lengthy standoff.

Metro Police say they were contacted after ICE agents attempted to arrest a man who refused to exit his vehicle, eventually locking himself in a van with his 12-year-old son.

“ICE agents did not have a criminal warrant, instead they came with a civil warrant (or detainer) signed by an administrator, not a judge,” Fox17 News reports. “Because this was a civil matter, ICE agents are not able to enter someone’s home or vehicle and citizens are not committing a crime by interfering.”

When neighbors caught wind of the unfolding situation, they reportedly surrounded the vehicle and began providing supplies to its occupants.

“We made sure they had water, they had food, we put gas back in the vehicle when they were getting low just to make sure they were okay,” Felishadae Young told News Channel 5.

After a standoff lasting approximately four hours, ICE agents left the scene and residents formed a human chain in order to shield the man and his son so they could enter the house (24:30 mark of video below.)

ICE released a statement following the incident –

“No at-large ICE arrests happened today in Nashville. That said, in general, ICE conducts targeted enforcement of federal immigration law on a daily basis in accordance with our routine, ongoing operations.”

“ICE continues to focus its enforcement efforts on criminal offenders as nearly 90 percent of persons arrested for violation of federal immigration law during the past year also had either a prior criminal conviction or a pending criminal charge. ICE does not conduct any type of random or indiscriminate enforcement that would encounter persons indiscriminately.”
