Groups of illegals hoping to reach the U.S. continue to gather at Mexico’s southern border in the days following heavy clashes between Mexican authorities and a massive ‘migrant caravan.’

“This is the new hotspot,” journalist Josh Friedman told Infowars in an exclusive interview. “The battle has shifted from the U.S.-Mexico border to Mexico-Guatemala border.”

Friedman has been reporting from both sides of the Suchiate River, which separates Mexico and Guatemala.

Friedman recently encountered a large group of approximately 50 migrants, presumed to be from Haiti, preparing to cross the river on their journey north from Ciudad Tecun Uman, Guatemala.

The group was broken down into smaller packs at the direction of local traffickers, who escorted them across a narrow point of the river on foot.

Some of the traffickers, teenage boys, warned Friedman and his guide they risked an armed confrontation if they continued to film or ask questions.

The Suchiate was the scene of a recent attempt by thousands of mostly-Central American migrants to force entry into Mexico.

Guatemalan authorities estimate at least 4,000 migrants gathered in Tecun Uman and the surrounding area, quickly filling local shelters and setting up makeshift camps.

“We’ve been getting organized,” a Honduran man told Reuters. “If we cross alone, they’ll get us, and all the sacrifices we’ve made to get here will have been in vain.”

Eventually, the migrants attempted to storm into Mexico via the river and a connecting bridge, but most were turned back by Mexican troops.

Friedman reports the recent immigration crackdown by Mexican authorities is “very real,” asserting that economic and diplomatic pressures applied by the Trump administration on Mexico City have been effective.

Friedman has interviewed dozens of migrants and found few to have compelling asylum cases — most are simply seeking better economic opportunities in the United States.

However, he says many are starting to “lose hope” about reaching the U.S. after learning Mexico is no longer allowing itself to function as a free-flowing conduit for mass migration.

Crossings at the U.S.-Mexico border have dropped for seven consecutive months, after reaching a crescendo in May of 2019, when over 144,000 migrants were apprehended by immigration authorities.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has released border apprehension figures that reveal a drop of over 70 percent since the migrant crisis reached a crescendo in May.

The agency carried out 42,649 apprehensions in November, in sharp contrast to 144,116 just six months ago.

Total apprehensions of inadmissible foreign nationals have fallen every month since May.

Additionally, the number of family units entering from Central America has been reduced by over 85 percent in the same time period.

“Do not put your lives in the hands of smugglers. They are lying to you,” acting CBP chief Mark Morgan said in a press conference held to discuss the latest enforcement numbers.

“The era of catch and release is done. Coming to this country with a child is no longer going to be a passport in the United States. That is done.”

Morgan praised the Trump administration for its role in stemming the flow of illegal aliens into the U.S., along with cooperation from the governments of Mexico and Northern Triangle countries (Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador).

“I think where the credit really belongs is with this president and this administration because of the focus and initiatives that organizations like CBP and our partner agencies have implemented, and has caused those numbers to go down,” Morgan told Fox News host Brian Kilmeade.

“Mexico has stepped up in unprecedented ways, as well as the Northern Triangle countries, to collectively — with the United States — see this as a regional crisis,” Morgan said.

“Mexico has absolutely stepped up their interior enforcement operations and their southern border operations, and they are helping us with other programs like MPP [Migrant Protection Protocols], as well. It absolutely is working.”

Border Patrol agents arrested two convicted murderers present in the United States illegally, the agency announced.

The apprehensions of the men occurred during separate incidents in Texas, just three days apart.

Both were identified as Mexican nationals with violent criminal histories.

“Wednesday, agents from the McAllen station arrested a Mexican national, later identified as Jose Mendez-Hernandez near Havana, Texas, as he entered the United States illegally,” Customs and Border Protection explained in a press release. “Record checks revealed, a prior arrest and conviction for murder by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office. Mendez-Hernandez received a sentenced of more than 20 years in prison for the murder charge.”

“Saturday morning, McAllen agents apprehended Jaime Cantu-Leal, a Mexican national, near Mission, Texas. Record checks revealed that Cantu-Leal was arrested by the McAllen Police Department in 1994 for murder. He was subsequently convicted and sentenced to 18 years confinement.”

Other recent Border Patrol actions of note include the interception of multiple tractor-trailers trafficking 56 illegal aliens at border checkpoints in Texas.

On Nov. 8th, agents at the Interstate 35 checkpoint discovered 29 individuals from Mexico, Guatemala, and Ecuador concealed in a trailer.

On Nov. 12th, an detection canine at the Highway 83 checkpoint near Laredo alerted agents to the presence of 27 individuals from Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras hidden inside a trailer.

The trucks were seized by Border Patrol and the drivers and illegal aliens were placed under arrest.

The Trump administration is working to implement new policies that would enable the collection of DNA samples from migrants who have been detained by U.S. authorities.

The biometric data would be added to a federal database used by law enforcement agencies to track criminals, a Justice Department official told the Associated Press.

“Trump administration officials say they hope to solve more crimes committed by immigrants through the increased collection of DNA from a group that can often slip through the cracks,” AP reports. “The Justice official also said it would be a deterrent — the latest step aimed at discouraging migrants from trying to enter the United States between official crossings by adding hurdles to the immigration process.”

The proposed rule is set to publish in the Federal Register on Tuesday, at which time a 20-day comment period will begin.

“The Department of Justice is proposing to amend regulations that require DNA-sample collection from individuals who are arrested, facing charges, or convicted, and from non-United States persons who are detained under the authority of the United States,” the DOJ explains in its summary. “The amendment would strike a provision authorizing the Secretary of Homeland Security to exempt from the sample-collection requirement certain aliens from whom collection of DNA samples is not feasible because of operational exigencies or resource limitations.”

“This will restore the Attorney General’s plenary legal authority to authorize and direct all relevant Federal agencies, including the Department of HomelandSecurity, to collect DNA samples from individuals who are arrested, facing charges, or convicted, and from non-United States persons who are detained under the authority of the United States.”

U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents would not be affected by the new rules, nor would children under the age of 14, according to a DOJ official.

The proposed plan is already under attack by open borders activists and ‘civil rights’ groups.

“This proposed change in policy is … transparently xenophobic in its intention,” said American Civil Liberties Union senior policy and advocacy attorney Naureen Shah.

“It seeks to miscast these individuals, many of whom are seeking a better life or safety, as threats to the country’s security.”

The DOJ recently announced it had prosecuted “the highest number of immigration-related offenses since record keeping began more than 25 years ago” during Fiscal Year 2019.

A group of 2,000 migrants bound for the U.S. border was blocked and apprehended by Mexican authorities in the latest move indicating Mexico is delivering on promises to help defend North America from mass migration.

A large group of migrants from Africa, the Caribbean and Central America had begun a journey from Tapachula, which lies on the border of Mexico and Guatemala.

However, after only about 24 miles, they were prevented from continuing north.

“Around 500 members of Mexico’s National Guard military police in helmets and tactical vests blocked the highway on both sides, according to a Reuters witness, and some pursued migrants who fled into neighboring fields,” Reuters reports.

“Officials from Mexico’s national immigration institute detained most of the group, putting them on buses back to Tapachula. About 150 migrants decided to return on foot.”

Activists called the operation a “human hunt” and claimed it was an “exercise in cruelty” to wait until the migrants had become too tired to resist being loaded into transports and returned to their starting point.

In June, Mexico deployed thousands of troops to crack down on the flow of migrants in response to major economic penalties threatened by the Trump administration.

Since then, migrant apprehensions at the U.S. southern border have been falling rapidly.

In September, Acting Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Mark Morgan commended Mexico for their cooperative efforts, but called on them to “do more.”

Morgan explained Mexico had created a “new national guard within their country,” deploying 10,000 troops to their southern border with Guatemala and 15,000 troops to their northern border with the U.S.

“Even though Mexico has… joined the United States, as well as our Northern Triangle partners, and really stepped up as true partners and really are really seeing this as a regional crisis, and they have stepped up in unprecedented ways — we need them to do more.  We need Mexico to do more,” Morgan stressed.

“Mexico needs to continue to work with our intelligence folks to use information, share intelligence, and develop target enforcement actions at strategic locations in their country,” he continued. “So they are stepping up in unprecedented ways, but we need them to continue to sustain that, and we need them continue to do more.”

Hundreds of migrants blocked traffic on multiple bridges connecting the U.S. and Mexico, demanding expedited asylum hearings, according to reports.

Between two and three hundred migrants staged protests at the Gateway and B&M International Bridges on Thursday, causing major traffic delays and shutdowns of both passages, which link Brownsville, Texas, and Matamoros, Mexico.

Authorities were able to reopen B&M International Bridge after approximately two hours, but Gateway remained closed for over 12 hours until 4 p.m., according to the Brownsville Herald.

“Bridge traffic at Gateway International Bridge and B&M International Bridges was temporarily halted at about 1:30 a.m. after a group of 250-300 migrants without entry documents had gathered at the midpoint of the Gateway Bridge,” Customs and Border Protection said in a statement to local media.

“CBP has responded and traffic at B&M International Bridge resumed at about 3:45 a.m. As of 8:30 a.m., traffic at Gateway Bridge remains closed in both directions. Those MPP [Migrant Protection Protocol] participants with immigration court hearings this morning are being rescheduled for a later date. CBP continues to monitor the situation and will provide updates.”

Under the Migrant Protection Protocols, recently implemented by the Trump administration, many migrants must now return to Mexico while they await asylum hearings, instead of being turned loose in the interior of the U.S.

The process can take months or even years.

The Associated Press estimates there are more than 42,000 migrants from around the world now waiting in Mexico for asylum hearings, and activists in Brownsville claim there are over 2,000 waiting in Matamoros.

Acting Customs and Border Protection Commissioner (CBP) Mark Morgan commended Mexico for their cooperative efforts to reduce the flow of migrants through their country, but called on them to “do more.”

During a press briefing, Morgan revealed that the number of migrants arriving at the U.S. southern border has been falling steadily — a 56 percent decrease since the crisis reached a crescendo in May — but stressed that the effort has only just begun.

In August, CBP apprehended or deemed inadmissible 64,000 migrants, a drop from 144,000 in May.

“Why do we see, in 90 days, a 56 percent reduction? The President has made it very clear that he’s going to use every tool available to him and this administration to address this unprecedented crisis at the southern border,” Morgan said. “We have seen historic agreements and policies put in place by this administration; an unprecedented network of initiatives, from regulatory reforms, policy changes, interior enforcement efforts.  The list goes on and on, what this administration has done that resulted in this 56 percent decrease.”

“In addition to that, let’s talk about the government of Mexico. The government of Mexico has taken meaningful and unprecedented steps to help curb the flow of illegal immigration to our border.”

Morgan explained Mexico has created a “new national guard within their country,” deploying 10,000 troops to their southern border with Guatemala and 15,000 troops to their northern border with the U.S.

Mexico has apprehended roughly 134,000 illegal migrants so far in 2019, up from 83,000 during the entire 2018 calendar year.

“Even though Mexico has… joined the United States, as well as our Northern Triangle partners, and really stepped up as true partners and really are really seeing this as a regional crisis, and they have stepped up in unprecedented ways — we need them to do more.  We need Mexico to do more,” Morgan stressed.

“We need to make sure that they’re sustaining the efforts right now; that the national guard — the 25,000 troops they have deployed — stay on target, stay on task.  We need them to continue to join and expand the [Migrant Protection Protocols], which is a game-changer right now with respect to stemming the flow.”

“Mexico needs to continue to work with our intelligence folks to use information, share intelligence, and develop target enforcement actions at strategic locations in their country,” he continued. “So they are stepping up in unprecedented ways, but we need them to continue to sustain that, and we need them continue to do more.”

Thousands of homeless and destitute Maine residents are being brushed aside as officials scramble to instead accommodate ‘asylum seekers’ who have recently arrived in the state from points around the globe.

Dozens of homeless Mainers, including veterans and families with children, expressed their frustrations to local CBS affiliate WGME, however most reportedly refused to go on record for fear of facing retribution or penalties as they await government aid.

“The I-Team found more than 18,000 Mainers are on a waiting list for Section 8 and that’s just one program to help low-income families get affordable housing,” WGME reports.

“Many of those people are homeless and hungry and have already been waiting years for their number to be called.”

Meanwhile, some 200 ‘asylum seekers’ who have been living in an emergency shelter at the Portland Expo center are now being moved quickly into temporary housing, while another 150 who arrived in June have already been relocated to units around the state.

The city of Portland has allocated some $870,000 from a donation fund to cover housing and food expenses.

“Of course when the asylum seekers come up here they offered them free housing. How do they have a place for them but not for us?” said Zanetta Smith, who spent five years in her car and now lives in a friend’s storage shed in the woods without toilet, shower, or running water.

“It was pretty tough in the wintertime,” said Smith, who reportedly lost her apartment after a serious illness that prevented her from being able to work. “You fall into bad times, and sometimes it’s hard to get out of it.”

Dan Brennan, director of the Maine State Housing Authority, claims the issues pertaining to Maine homeless and ‘asylum seekers’ are completely separate.

“There simply is not enough supply of units available for people who need them,” Brennan told WGME. “The asylum seekers are a very unique situation in which it’s a temporary situation for them, it’s not permanent housing. They’re not getting a housing opportunity that someone on the waiting list would be afforded.”

“We fully feel this short period of assistance will help the folks as they become self-sufficient and begin to settle here in Maine.”

Governor Janet Mills has reportedly assigned $172,303 from the Governor’s Contingency Account to cover a year of rent expenses for ‘asylum seekers.’

In June, when hundreds of Congolese migrants were unloaded in Texas after arriving at the southern border, San Antonio Assistant City Manager Colleen Bridger revealed that many of the new arrivals had been slated for relocation to Maine, but Portland officials reportedly begged out of the arrangement.

“The plan was 350 of them would travel from San Antonio to Portland,” Bridger told a local CBS station. “When we reached out to Portland, Maine, they said, ‘Please don’t send us anymore. We’re already stretched way beyond our capacity.'”

An Afghan migrant who claims he was assaulted by American rapper A$AP Rocky and his friends has demanded some $15,000 in damages at the opening of the high-profile trial in Sweden.

Mustafa Jafari, 19, is seeking 139,700 SEK for injuries he says were caused during the alleged attack on June 30.

Jafari reportedly arrived in Sweden as an illegal migrant via Iran in 2015 and has since racked up an extensive criminal record for drug, theft, and assault convictions.

A witness in the case associated with Jafari, Dawod Hosseini — who also hails from Afghanistan and holds a lengthy rap sheet — will be escorted into the court by police as he is “currently in jail accused of theft and knife crime,” stemming from an incident that took place after June 30, according to the Daily Mail.

Jafari was “subjected to serious abuse and the perpetrators have shown great ruthlessness and cruelty,” according to legal claims reviewed by SVT.

Prosecutors allege that A$AP Rocky (real name Rakim Mayers) and two friends committed an unprovoked assault on Jafari, however, video evidence seems to indicate circumstances to the contrary, which Mayers and his council have argued.

Mayers posted multiple videos to social media documenting the altercation.

“HITS SECURITY IN FACE WITH HEADPHONES THEN FOLLOW US,” Mayers wrote on one video seeming to show Jafari smashing his headphones against the body of Mayers’ security guard.

“SO A FEW DRUG ADDICTS ARE NOT MY FANS, WE DONT KNOW THESE GUYS AND WE DIDNT WANT TROUBLE, THEY FOLLOWED US FOR 4 BLOCKS, AND THEY WERE SLAPPING GIRLS BUTTS WHO PASSED, GIVE ME A BREAK,” Mayers wrote on another video.

“Before his arrest, Mayers stressed that the two men were following his team and that he did not want any trouble,” Sputnik reports. “He said the plaintiff provoked him and his two companions, who have also been charged with assault. If they fail to beat the rap at the Stockholm district court, they could face up to two years in jail.”

President Donald Trump has weighed in on the case, even reaching out to Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven in an attempt to secure Mayers’ release, but to no avail.

Migrants claiming to be traveling as families would undergo DNA testing under a new bill proposed by Rep. Lance Gooden (R-TX).

The End Child Trafficking Now Act aims to crack down on fraudulent family asylum claims, and also the practice of ‘recycling’ foreign children by illegal migrants and human traffickers.

“There are one in five cases, according to ICE, of groups of people coming over with children, saying ‘these are our children’ — when they say that, they get preferential treatment through the asylum process — and then we have later found out they are not even related, so the DNA testing helps us to determine if they’re telling the truth or not,” Rep. Gooden told Fox News.

“I believe this should have bipartisan support, I can’t imagine anyone making an argument that we shouldn’t ensure that traffickers are not trafficking and families coming across really are families,” he asserted. “I would be shocked to hear of anyone being opposed to preventing child trafficking, but I’ve been shocked before.”

The issue of child recycling has come into focus amid an unprecedented surge of ‘migrant families’ at the southern border.

In March, former DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen testified to Congress that her agency had “encountered recycling rings where innocent young people are used multiple times to help aliens gain illegal entry.”

Acting DHS Secretary Kevin McAleenan offered similar testimony to the House Oversight Committee last week, revealing that children are effectively being purchased on the black market and used as ‘tickets’ into the U.S.

“Unfortunately we see that all too often now … adults that are bringing children with them that are not their own to try and take advantage of what they perceive as a loophole in our law that would allow them to be released into the United States,” McAleenan said.

“ICE now has three significant cases in multiple cities around the country where they’ve identified a small group of children, maybe 5-8 children, being used by dozens of adults to cross our border seeking release into the United States,” he explained. “We’ve had egregious cases including a 51-year-old man who bought a 6-month child for $80 in Guatemala, and admitted that when confronted with a DNA test by a Homeland Security Investigations agent conducting a pilot at one of our border stations.”

Ilhan Omar voted down a bill that would have stopped barbaric family members from being able to mutilate the genitals of children.
