A ‘sniper’ took aim at crowds on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame on Sunday night with a handgun during a vigil at the late Mexican singer Vicente Fernández’s star.
A dozen officers were seen storming the residential building where the suspect reportedly shot from the window of his own apartment after four or five shots rang out.
Witnesses report seeing someone holding a handgun at the window moments after the gunman opened fire.
The male suspect, who has not yet been named, was arrested. Their motive is still unclea
LAPD Sgt. Andrew Dineen of the Hollywood Division told the Los Angeles Daily News that the suspect will likely face either assault with a deadly weapon or firing into an inhabited building charges.
There were no fatalities or injuries.
Cellphone footage captured the moment that the peaceful vigil, which saw people singing along to Fernández’ music, was interrupted by gunfire at around 7pm Sunday.
