South Texas is descending into chaos amid a historic border rush that has led to a spike in related crime and dangerous car chases, according to reports.

One local mayor says his city’s average is 10 – 12 vehicle pursuits every week now with some ending badly.

“We went through this in 2018 and 2019. And the numbers [were] a cakewalk then, compared to what we’re seeing now. It’s gotten just totally ridiculous,” Uvalde Mayor Don McLaughlin Jr. told Fox News this week.

“I went to a wreck Friday night where they were pursuing a car that rolled over. There were five immigrants in it. And they were mad that they got caught and were frustrated with the officers. And this is something we’re seeing every day.”

Mayor McLaughlin says crimes such as robbery and car theft also are on the rise in the Uvalde region, which lies approximately 60 miles from the Mexico border.

“Our local ranchers are having their pensions cut, their houses are being broken into and they’re trying to steal their cars. It’s just gotten crazy,” he said.

McLaughlin revealed that migrants hailing from at least 49 countries have been apprehended in and around Uvalde.

He projects tens of thousands more illegal aliens will arrive in the coming months, while the local holding center is already filled to capacity.

“It’s so full, they’re having to pull agents off the street and they’re ending up babysitting. And our Border Patrol does a great job in our community, in our area, but their hands are becoming tied with this. And this border, it needs to be addressed. It needs to be stopped and we need to tell them to quit coming,” McLaughlin said.

McLaughlin joins a growing list of Texas officials who are raising alarms about the explosive border catastrophe being overseen by the Biden administration.

State and local officials were “blindsided” when buses carrying ‘unaccompanied minors’ began arriving with little forewarning at a man camp for oil and gas workers in Midland last weekend.

“What I have been told is this issue was shopped around other Texas cities. But at no point was there a discussion between the Biden Administration and local Midland officials. It was a one-sided decision and for that I am furious,” State Senator Kel Seliger wrote in a statement.

While over 100,000 migrants were captured entering the U.S. illegally in February, between 4,500 and 6,000 are evading border agents on a daily basis, according to Rep. August Pfluger (R-TX).
