The View Hosts Blame Chappelle Attack on Trump

'I do think Trump unleashed some incivility, at least, in our country,' says co-host Sunny Hostin.

The onstage attack comedian Dave Chappelle endured was caused by former President Donald Trump, according to the shrews at ABC/Disney’s The View.

On Wednesday, the View co-hosts gave bizarre, off-the-wall takes on the incident that happened earlier this week, blaming Trump’s release of “incivility” for the violent assault.

“What do you think is happening? I mean, it’s happening on airplanes, it’s happening on street corners,” asked co-host Whoopi Goldberg.

Joy Behar teed up Hostin’s response by recalling Trump’s encouragement at his rallies for supporters to be on the lookout for hecklers looking to hurl objects at him.

“The pandemic, the opioid crisis, the fact that Trump was out there saying things like, ‘Just knock the hell out of them. I promise you I’ll pay for the legal fees,’ when he had a heckler,” Behar said, adding Will Smith’s attack on Chris Rock last month during the Oscars “was the pièce de résistance, if you will.”

At this point, co-host Lindsey Granger spoke up to say Chappelle’s attack was apolitical, arguing the Will Smith slap had nothing to do with politics.

“It didn’t happen before,” Behar argued.

Hostin next chimed in claiming, “I do think Trump unleashed some incivility, at least, in our country.”

It’s clear some of The View hosts are still suffering lingering effects of TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome) as the man has been out of office for close to two years.

Chappelle was tackled on stage at the Netflix is a Joke festival Tuesday by a man armed with a gun-shaped knife. The comedian wasn’t harmed during the attack and later joked it “was a trans man” who rushed the stage.
