Far more than 100,000 illegal aliens have entered the United States this year without being confronted by border authorities, according to a top official.

In addition to approximately 350,000 migrants who were apprehended at the southern border during the first three months of 2021, many more ‘gotaways’ apparently slipped into the U.S. unimpeded.

Border Patrol Deputy Chief Raul Ortiz made the startling revelation during an interview on Fox News on Monday.

Asked to clarify if the estimated number of gotaways is not included in ‘Southwest Land Border Encounters’ figures released by Customs and Border Protection, Deputy Chief Ortiz confirmed they are not.

“That’s a whole separate metric that we try and account for,” Ortiz said. “We have technology and we have some resources out there that give us an estimate about how many people are actually getting away from us.”

“I can tell you that, so far, it’s been way over 100,00 people that have gotten away from us this year. The Border Patrol agents, as well as our law enforcement partners, are doing everything we can. Our resources are just stretched awfully thin right now.”

As Fox News host Tucker Carlson noted on Monday, Americans have no idea the true number of illegal aliens entering the country or the transformation they are fueling due to obfuscation of accurate data by the federal government.

“Sources familiar with internal Customs and Border Protection data have confirmed to Fox News that officers, so far, have encountered 171,000 illegal immigrants in the month of March alone,” Carlson reported. “That’s a 418 percent increase from March of last year, but that does not represent the total of people who crossed over. Those are the ones who are caught. Those are just the ones that we know about.”

“The real number is higher – much higher. How high is it? It’s high enough to change this country forever in every conceivable way. It’s high enough to devalue your political power as a voter. It’s high enough to subvert democracy itself. It’s high enough to make this country a different place.”
