“One male gets in the back. Inside, there was a struggle with Uber driver 38-year old Joe Schelstraete from Indiana,” Fox 32 reports.
“The video shows a suspect open the door, but it stops right as the father of three was shot in the head.”
Schelstraete was executed after handing over his valuables and cell phone, authorities say.
He was reportedly pronounced dead on Wednesday, but was kept on life support so his organs could be harvested.
“The victim has no criminal history. He’s a hardworking young man that was out trying to make a dollar,” Cicero Police Chief Jerry Chlada told local media.
“We are pursuing some other suspects of interest at this time.”
Authorities are looking for at least three more suspects according to latest available updates at the time of this writing.
