A migrant who recently crossed the U.S.-Mexico border admitted on camera that he would not have brought his family from Brazil while Donald Trump was president.
ABC correspondent Martha Raddatz traveled to the southern border to report on the historic surge of illegal aliens unfolding under the Biden administration.
Raddatz interviewed a Brazilian man who had entered the U.S. via Mexico with his wife and three children before they were bused to a Catholic charity shelter in Tucson, Arizona, along with 55 other migrants.
The man told ABC he was inspired to make the journey because Joe Biden is now president.
ABC’s Martha Raddatz to illegal alien who crossed the border: “Would you have tried to do this when Donald Trump was president?”
Illegal alien: “Definitely not.”

“Would you have tried to do this when Donald Trump was president?” Raddatz asked the man.
“Definitely not. Definitely,” the man replied. “We have a chance, you know? The same violence that is going on today was there last year. We used to watch the news and I definitely wouldn’t do this.”
Following up, Raddatz clarified, “So did you come here because Joe Biden was elected president?”
“Basically,” the man confirmed. “The main thing was the violence in my country. And the second thing was Joe Biden.”
The ‘Biden border surge’ has been escalating since before he took office as migrants from around the world anticipated substantially relaxed enforcement of U.S. immigration policies.
In early January, a mob of Cuban migrants chanting, “Biden! Biden!” stormed through a toll plaza on the Mexican side of the Paso del Norte Bridge, which links Juarez to El Paso.
During a 2019 presidential primary debate, Biden made clear his intentions to blow America’s borders open if elected.
“I would in fact make sure that there is – that we immediately surge to the border all those people who are seeking asylum,” Biden said.

“They deserve to be heard. That’s who we are,” he continued. “We’re a nation that says, ‘If you want to flee and you’re fleeing oppression, you should come!”
Migrants from across the world are accepting the Biden administration’s invitation to flood the southern border.
