California students were berated during online lessons by a teacher outraged over various issues, including a push by parents to return to regular in-person learning.
Alissa Piro, an English teacher at San Marcos High School, is described as a “bully” by one parent who says the woman went on similar unhinged rants during remote classes on Zoom this school year, Fox News reports.
Footage of Piro’s diatribes were shared by parents on Facebook and later posted to Twitter by the grassroots activism group Reopen California Schools.

“If your parent wants to talk to me about their profession and their opinion on their profession, I would love to hear that,” Piro said during one outburst. “I know very little about anything else in the world other than education.”
“However, if your parent wants to come talk to me about how I’m not doing a good enough job in distance learning, based on what you need as an individual – just dare them to come at me. Because I am so sick to my stomach of parents trying to tell educators how to do their job.”
Piro concluded the tirade by acknowledging, “I am going off. I’m sorry. This is my go-off period.”
During another rant, Piro can be observed shrieking at a student after he asked her about a ‘white student union’ – apparently during a discussion about Critical Race Theory objectives.
“You don’t need a white student union, Jake. You get everything,” she yells.
One local mother says she showed the videos to school principal Adam Dawson weeks ago.
Dawson reportedly called Piro’s behavior “inexcusable” but never followed up with the parent.
“She’s a bully,” the mother wrote in a private Facebook group. “These rants were so often my child said he ‘tuned her out’ and was just trying to get thru the class… this is exactly what’s wrong with education and if the school district sweeps this then they are just as responsible.”
“These poor kids have endured so much. I held onto the video for 3 months and hardly told a soul fearing retaliation… I shared it with some of my close friends a few weeks ago when I saw her behavior was continuing this term and I felt awful for not standing up for these kids sooner.”
