Democrat House Rep. Jamaal Bowman (NY) loudly vocalized his disgust over Republicans’ refusal to pass gun control laws following the Nashville school shooting, but he didn’t expect to be confronted with contradictory data.
In a viral clip shot outside the House chamber Thursday, Bowman angrily chastised Republicans, shouting at the top of his lungs, “They’re cowards! They’re all cowards! Children are dying!”
“Question them! Force them to respond to the question, ‘Why the hell don’t you do anything to save America’s children?’” he screamed at anyone who was listening.
At that point, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) walked by and began pushing back against Bowman telling him schools need armed staff, saying, “You know, there’s never been a school shooting in a school that allows teachers to carry.”
“Carry guns?” Bowman loudly scoffed. “More guns lead to more dead!” the Democrat screamed, telling Massie to “look at the data.”
As Bowman was unwilling to have a civil debate and discuss the facts, Massie gave up and marched off, telling Bowman, “You’re just screaming at me.”
Massie addressed the confrontation later on Twitter, saying, “He wanted to discuss solutions to school shootings, but when I offered a solution he began shouting. When he asked for data, I gave him data, but then he just shouted more. Bring facts. There’s never been a school shooting in the hundreds of schools that allow staff to carry.”
Rep. Massie was praised by fellow congressman Mike Lee (R-Utah) on social media for maintaining his composure in the face of incivility.
The heated exchange comes as Democrat legislators are eager to use the deaths of children at the Covenant school in Nashville to fulfill their decades-long anti-gun agenda.
Even the Biden White House has suggested an “assault weapon” ban could be forthcoming, and press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre won’t rule out the possibility of confiscation.
