A man arrested for attempted murder escaped custody by simply jogging out of a police station in New York City this week.

The bizarre incident unfolded at around 1:30 p.m. on Monday in the Bronx.

Eduardo Lacen, 23, was being processed at the 40th Precinct station house when he shoved a detective and made a run for freedom, sources told the New York Post.

Surveillance footage shows the uncuffed suspect running at a relaxed pace down a flight of stairs and towards the exit.

Moments later, a plainclothes detective can be seen pursuing him in a relaxed manner.

Lacen, who had been picked up following a non-fatal shooting, ultimately escaped and was still on the loose as of Tuesday morning, according to the Post.

He was last seen wearing red sweatpants, a black T-shirt, and white shoes.
